Bengaluru, August 3: There's a reason why John Cena is being called a part-timer by the WWE Universe. He has gone forward with the tradition of WWE's franchise players screening in Hollywood movies during their finishing point of career.

The Rock, Stone Cold and Hulk Hogan have done this and no wonder the Cenation Leader is pursuing the same goal to become a movie star.

According to the reports of 'TheHollywoodReporter.com', The 16-time world champion has bagged a role in the upcoming Transformers franchise. It will be a spin-off from the original series.

The movie has been named BumbleBee and slated to release on December 21st, 2018 that is the same day as Warner Bros. much-anticipated release, Aquaman.

The franchise player of the WWE could not be more excited with this upcoming project and hence expressed his joy over it on Twitter:

Paramount Pictures Inc. has officially unveiled the production details for the movie. Veteran Lorenzo Di Bonaventura and Michael Bay will act as the producers of the movie whereas Steven Spielberg, Brian Goldner, and Mark Vahradian will serve as the executive producers.

Travis Knight will sit in the director's chair for this upcoming edition. The script is a brainchild of Christina Hodson.

While John Cena will be portraying a leading role, the rest of the star cast will see a plethora of younger names to the mix. Names like Hailee Steinfeld, Jorge Lendeborg, Jason Drucker, Abby Quinn, Rachel Crow, Ricardo Hoyos and Gracie Dzienny. No revelations were made with John Cena's character in the movie.

"On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug."
