WWE King and Queen of the Ring 2024: Gunther and Lyra Valkyria advance to finale

The 2024 King and Queen of the Ring tournaments will culminate this weekend in a premium live event by the same name in Saudi Arabia. Following this week's Raw, we have now received the first two finalists for the same.

In the Queen of the Ring tournament semifinal from the Raw side, Lyra Valkyria defeated IYO SKY to advance to the Finals. This marked the biggest win of Lyra's young career as she has now pinned a former WWE Women's Champion.

SKY powerbomb-ed Lyra out of the corner but she didn't go for a cover and instead went for the moonsault only to miss it. SKY further went for a sunset flip pin but Lyra sat down for a cover to secure the three pin count for an upset win.

With this victory, the former WWE NXT Women's Champion has now headed to the finals of the Queen of the Ring tournament and will now face the winner between Nia Jax and Bianca Belair on Saturday at the King & Queen Of The Ring PLE.

Lyra has just been called up to the WWE main roster a few weeks ago and she started a fresh journey in the QOTR fray. En route to the finale match, she defeated former women's tag team champions Dakota Kai and Zoey Stark.

In the King of the Ring tournament, Gunther defeated Jey Uso in the main event of this week's Raw to advance to the finals. Jey hit a Spear followed by the Uso splash but he couldn't capitalize as the referee was knocked out.

Gunther immediately started clobbering Jey before locking his arm with a submission hold to which Jey passed out and the referee called for the match bell before declaring Gunther to be the winner.

Gunther had previously defeated Sheamus and Kofi Kingston to qualify for the semifinals. More semifinal action will unfold on SmackDown with Randy Orton taking on Tama Tonga and the winner advancing to face Gunther in the final match.

WWE King and Queen of the Ring 2024 premium live event will host the final matches of the KOTR and QOTR tournaments at the Jeddah Superdome in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Saturday, May 25.
