Bengaluru, March 21: Last night, the Mixed Match Challenge contest was held as per the usual schedule. Once the Smackdown Live went off the air, we went live into this exciting affair that is hosted exclusively on Facebook Watch. Two of the best teams from the WWE Raw roster met each other to book a spot in the grand final.

It was the first semi-final of the tournament and the first team to come out was The Miz and Asuka who defeated Sasha Banks and Finn Balor in the quarter-final. Followed them was Alexa Bliss and Braun Strowman who defeated Jimmy Uso and Naomi in their quarte-final.

So, they set up a great showdown. All the four were prime athletes from WWE Raw. Also, in this contest, Asuka's undefeated streak was on the line.

There was some hesitation to start the match from both the sides as The Miz didn't want to face Strowman while Bliss was not ready to face the Empress of Tomorrow. The WWE Raw women’s champion started the match only to tag her partner back in the match. The Monster Among Men gave a huge drop-kick to the Intercontinental Champion after which the Miz decided to stay out of the contest.

Alexa Bliss and Asuka competed sometimes in the ring with the champion dominating the bout. The undefeated one was almost pinned by the champion, at one point. Meanwhile, Strowman pulled The Miz into the ring to keep the two ladies out of the contest. While the Miz one was down, Strowman went to Little Miss Bliss for a kiss and The Miz used the opportunity to roll up his opponent.

But, the behemoth took him outside the ring and pushed him through the barricade that left Bliss and Asuka inside the ring. Thereafter, the former NXT Champion finished off the contest, as follows, (courtesy WWE.com)

“As both men lay amid the debris, Alexa and Asuka continued battling inside the ring. Little Miss Bliss threatened to end Asuka’s streak with back-to-back near falls, coming as close as anybody to scoring a victory over the dominant Superstar. Alexa then set up Asuka for a DDT, but The Empress of Tomorrow slyly reversed it into the excruciating Asuka Lock, quickly forcing Bliss to tap out.”

With this win, The Miz and Asuka became the first finalist in the Mixed Match Challenge contest. It was announced that Sasha Banks and Finn Balor will get another shot to go to the final via fan votes. They will compete in the second semi-final against Charlotte Fair and Bobby Roode, next week.
