John Cena being advertised for the WWE No Mercy PPV

Bengaluru, August 10: John Cena has transitioned into a new role in the WWE as a 'free agent'. This means he is free from the brand extension of Raw and Smackdown. Being the franchise player, he can be part of both the brands, going forward.

From the storyline perspective, he was not present during the superstar shakeup which earned him the tag. In reality, this is a clever move by the WWE Creative so that he can be utilized in the most valiant way possible in the near future.

Being a so-called 'part-timer', he is not available at the company all the time. Hence, the creative team will get fewer chances to conduct the dream matches featuring him if the brand split remains intact. So, going forward, we can definitely expect the Smackdown superstar to feature on Raw.

According to the earlier reports, John Cena has already been advertised for the future Raw live events. Now, in addition, he is set to feature in a Raw-exclusive PPV. WWE posted an advertisement regarding the next brand exclusive event, No Mercy which enlisted John Cena's name.

The marquee names from the flagship brand like Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Bray Wyatt, Finn Balor and more are going to feature in the PPV whereas Cena's name is quite surprisingly in the mix. In case you didn't know, the No Mercy PPV will be conducted on September 24th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

This year, Raw will get to host the No Mercy event that was exclusive to the Smackdown brand earlier. It will also be the first brand exclusive PPV following Summerslam. If this teaser is to be believed then we could very well see the franchise player return to the flagship show after a year.

The promo also indicates the fact that John Cena might not win his scheduled match at Summerslam. He is now officially booked to face Baron Corbin at the biggest event of the summer. Rather, after digesting the loss, he will shift to the Raw brand to a start a new rivalry.

It was earlier reported that Samoa Joe had been scheduled to face Cena at the house shows in the month of September. This might be the hint that another dream rivalry between these two superstars awaits us in the fall.
