WWE No Mercy 2024: NXT Championship Retained; Title Defense Set For CW Premier Episode

No championship change was seen in the headliner match of the WWE NXT No Mercy premium live event that went down from the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado as the reigning champion will again put his belt on the line in early October.

In the main event match of No Mercy PLE, Ethan Page defeated TNA’s Joe Hendry to retain the NXT Championship. This happened despite Page’s rival Trick Williams being appointed in the match as the special guest referee.

Hendry had the match won after hitting his finisher but Williams spotted that Page had his foot under the rope and stopped the pin count. A frustrated Hendry then got in the face of Williams in protest.

Page took advantage of the situation and sent them into one another. He landed a DDT on Hendry onto the NXT title belt when Williams wasn’t watching before connecting with the Ego's Edge to secure the pin-fall count.

After the match, Pete Dunne arrived at ringside, dragged Williams out of the ring, and put him down with the Bitter End maneuver on the floor. No Mercy went off the air with Dunne staring down Page who was still celebrating.

This could have been an indication that Dunne would be the next to come after Page and his NXT Championship. While the title bout lineup is yet to be made, official, it will take place in the first week of October.

During the WWE NXT No Mercy premium live event, general manager Ava announced that the main event winner between Ethan Page and Joe Hendry would defend the NXT Championship on the October 1 episode when NXT premieres on the CW Network.

The last episode of SmackDown on FOX will air this coming Friday, as it moves to the USA Network on September 13. WWE’s flagship show, Monday Night Raw will leave cable television for the first time as it moves to Netflix starting from January 6.
