NXT Battleground 2024 appeared to be a historic WWE premium live event by all means where the first-ever women's NXT North American Champion was crowned. Besides, a first-time Underground Match from the women's division went down in a WWE PLE.
In the opening match of Battleground, Kelani Jordan defeated Sol Ruca, Lash Legend, Fallon Henley, Jaida Parker, and "Michin" Mia Yim in a Ladder Match to become the inaugural NXT Women's North American Champion.

Being a ladder match, this contest featured several crazy spots including all five participants throwing Lash Legend out of the ring and onto a ladder on the outside. Ruca delivered her sol snatcher finisher off the ladder to stun the audience.
The finish of the match saw Jordan delivering a split-legged moonsault on a ladder to Michin, and then climbing another ladder to unhook the North American Title to become the first-ever champion, etching her name in the history books.
Women's NXT North American Championship was first introduced back at NXT Stand & Deliver on April 6 during the WrestleMania XL weekend. Later that month, the general manager Ava announced a six-woman ladder match for Battleground holding.
A combine was hosted to determine the top twelve contenders for the title. From those twelve, the aforementioned six participants won their respective qualifying matches while Thea Hail, Brinley Reece, Izzi Dame, Ivy Nile, Tatum Paxley, and Wren Sinclair came up short of reaching Battleground.
Also at last night's PLE from UFC Apex, Lola Vice (former Bellator MMA Star Valerie Laureda) defeated former UFC Star Shayna Baszler in an NXT Underground Match, a bout that can only be won via submission or knockout.
Vice sent Baszler's head landing upon the steel steps as the latter was all clumsy upon heading back into the ring. Vice viciously targeted her head further with some thorough punches which forced the referee to call for the match bell.
After Battleground, Vice has now competed in both the women's Underground Matches in NXT history and picked up wins in both of these. Before joining NXT, she had a superb win-loss record of 4-1 in Bellator MMA promotion.
