WWE NXT: Rey Mysterio’s return; Championship Match and more set for August 8 Episode

Bengaluru, August 2: Dominik Mysterio's spree of regular championship defense with the WWE NXT North American Title will continue, next week against an up-and-rising star. However, things may not be that easy for the champion as his father will be in attendance.

During this weekend's NXT Great American Bash event, Dominik Mysterio successfully defended his title against former champion Wes Lee and Mustafa Ali in a Triple Threat and quickly entered his next feud over the title.

Not only Dom and his on-screen flame, WWE Women's World Champion Rhea Ripley refused to shake the hand of Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative Shawn Michaels but also berated Dragon Lee in a backstage segment.

Lee was all fired up after Dom mentioned him as the 'wannabe Rey Mysterio' and he decided to confront Dom and Ripley after they appeared on NXT to celebrate the successful title defense at Bash 2023 edition.

Dragon Lee vs. Dominik Mysterio was announced for next week's NXT after which Ripley revealed that she was going to be in Dom's corner. This led to Lee announcing that Rey Mysterio will have his back.

"I am proud to say that I'm coming next week to 'NXT,' to be in the corner of someone who I truly respect, the future of Lucha Libre, Dragon Lee," Rey appeared in a pre-taped video message directed to his son.

"Hey, I hate to break it to you, but I'm going to have the best seat in the house and I can't wait when Dragon Lee takes away that North American Title."

With this, Dominik's overall fourth-championship defense has now been confirmed. The Mysterio Jr. won the North American Title on the July 18 episode of NXT which also marked the beginning of his first reign as a singles champion.

Former NXT Champion Bron Breakker challenged Von Wagner to a match which has also been added to the August 8 episode of WWE NXT. Plus, "Free Agent" Mustafa Ali will be in action which keeps the match card as follows:

- North American Championship Match: Dominik Mysterio vs. Dragon Lee (Rey Mysterio will be present in Dragon Lee's corner)

- Mustafa Ali vs. Axiom

- Tyler Bate vs. Noam Dar

- Bron Breakker vs. Von Wagner
