WWE NXT Roadblock 2024: Champion taken to hospital after title match

Lyra Valkyria has been on the top of the WWE NXT Women's Division since the latter part of 2023 as the reigning solo champion and she went for the tag team titles at the Roadblock special edition, last night.

In one of the marquee matches of NXT Roadblock 2024, The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane) from SmackDown defeated NXT Women's Champion Lyra Valkyria and Tatum Paxley to retain the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship.

Asuka and Valkyria started the match and the champions were quick to showcase their heel antics. Valkyria and Paxley initially got along well as a team with a series of super kicks to keep the champions down.

However, Valkyria accidentally hit her partner with a kick. The distraction allowed The Kabuki Warriors to take her out of the ring. Asuka further kicked Paxley in the back of the head as Sane came off with her InSane Elbow from the top rope for the pin-fall win.

With this win, Asuka and Sane retained their championships at NXT Roadblock and they will now move on to next week's WWE Raw to defend the titles, again. They will face the team of Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark, next.

Once the match was over, Valkyria was attacked by Roxanne Perez, who targeted the champion's arm around the ring rope. The champion screamed in agony and she had to be carried away on a stretcher.

Moments later in a backstage segment, it was shown that Valkyria was loaded into an Ambulance. Shawn Michaels and NXT General Manager Ava looked concerned. The injury was shown as serious enough despite being kayfabe.

Lyra Valkyria dethroned The Man Becky Lynch to win the Women's title of the black and gold brand and with this assault on Perez, it seems like her next feud has just begun.

NXT's next stop following the Roadblock-themed episode will be the NXT Stand & Deliver during the WrestleMania XL weekend in early April. Valkyria is expected to defend her title against Perez on that upcoming PLE night.
