In a shocking turn of events, Trick Williams defeated Ilja Dragunov in the main event of Night One of NXT Spring Breakin' 2024 special to capture the NXT Championship and become the new face of the brand.
Dragunov dominated the first half of the bout that came with the stipulation demanding that Williams would leave NXT if he would lose the match. A desperate Williams then survived a coast-to-coast maneuver from Dragunov.

This was the point that Trick gained some momentum as he hit an H-Bomb to Dragunov as well as a Torpedo Moscow. Dragunov kicked out twice from his own moves before finally giving up to the Trick Shot finisher.
After the match at Spring Breakin', Dragunov hugged Williams as he handed him the NXT Championship. There have been reports that Dragunov may be headed to the main roster in the 2024 WWE Draft the title drop could be a hint to that move.
Dragunov's run with the NXT title thus ended after 206 days. He defeated Carmelo Hayes for the title at No Mercy PPV back in September. He already made his first appearance on Raw after WrestleMania 40 and defeated Shinsuke Nakamura.
As for Trick Williams, this is his first reign with the NXT Championship. After defeating Carmelo Hayes at NXT Stand & Deliver during WrestleMania weekend, Williams got his shot at another match against Dragunov for the title.
In the opening match of Spring Breakin' 2024 Night One, Roxanne Perez defeated Lyra Valkyria and Tatum Paxley in a Triple Threat Match to retain the NXT Women's Championship in her first title defense.
Paxley dominated Valkyria in the finishing sequence before delivering a 450-splash for a nearfall as Perez broke the attempt and went ahead with the Jacknight cover to steal the pin-fall win over Paxley.
It's worth noting that Perez has already wrestled on the main roster, defeating Indi Hartwell on the Raw after WrestleMania 40 and she has also declared for the 2024 WWE Draft, which will be held on Raw and SmackDown.
