WWE NXT Stand & Deliver 2023: Main Event Title Match and Big return announced

Bengaluru, March 8: The main event for WWE NXT Stand & Deliver 2023 has now been made, official where the NXT Champion Bron Breakker will defend his title against Carmelo Hayes.

On last night's episode of NXT, it was the champion, himself who challenged the former North American Champion Carmelo Hayes to a title match showdown at the April 1 premium live event.

This came as an earlier challenge thrown by Carmelo where he intended to go after the reigning NXT Champion for the prime title. Carmelo was glad that Breakker responded, positively and accepted the title match to make things official for NXT Stand & Deliver.

Breakker has been champion for 333 days, since the Raw after WrestleMania 38, when he defeated Dolph Ziggler to win the belt for the second time.

In the latest, Breakker has just been coming out of a feud with Grayson Waller, which saw him defeating the top heel star of NXT in a cage match at last month's Vengeance Day PLE.

Breakker also defended the title recently against former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal during the February 28 episode of NXT. Teaming up with Creed Brothers, he also defeated Indus Sher and Jinder Mahal in a six-man tag match at Roadblock.

In more news coming out of last night's special NXT edition, the Tolstoy of the white-and-gold brand, Johnny Gargano made a surprise return to set up a massive match at NXT Stand & Deliver.

During the March 7 episode of NXT, a special edition of The Grayson Waller Effect took place with Shawn Michaels as the special guest. Waller challenged Michaels to a match at next month's PLE in that segment.

Since Michaels is retired from in-ring competition, he turned down the offer but the WWE Hall of Famer was happy to introduce a new opponent for him at the upcoming show.

Michaels then introduced Johnny Gargano as Waller's Stand & Deliver opponent. The Heart & Soul of NXT then entered the ring and immediately took out Waller to end the segment after which Gargano vs. Waller was officially announced.

The 2023 WWE NXT Stand & Deliver premium live event will take place at 1 PM ET on Saturday, April 1 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California as part of WWE's WrestleMania 39 weekend. The currently confirmed match card for the show stands as follows:

- NXT Championship Match: Bron Breakker (c) vs. Carmelo Hayes

- Grayson Waller vs. Johnny Gargano
