Bengaluru, May 10: A tournament is underway from this week's NXT episode onward in the wake of crowning a new NXT Women's Champion after the former champion Indi Hartwell relinquished her title due to injury as well as her main roster call-up.
NXT Women's Division will now need a new champion and on last night's edition of NXT, an eight-woman tournament began to fill up the void. As seen on the show, two women moved on to the semifinals.

In the first qualifier match of the night, Tiffany Stratton defeated Gigi Dolin to advance to the next round of the NXT Women's Championship Tournament. Stratton landed the Prettiest Moonsault Ever to secure the win.
In the second qualifier, Lyra Valkyria defeated Kiana James to advance to the next round of the NXT Women's Championship Tournament. Valkyria also received a clean pin-fall win via a spinning back heel-kick.
In the announced set of Superstars from this tournament only two names have the previous experience to hold championships, one being Roxanne Perez who won the NXT Women's Title from Mandy Rose back in December of last year.
Mandy's former Toxic Attraction buddy Gigi Dolin held the NXT Women's Tag Team Championships, twice with her current rival Jacy Jayne. While Dolin has been eliminated, Jayne, one of the WWE creative favorites has the chance to advance in the ongoing tournament.
The final match of the tourney will take place at the reintroduced NXT Battleground premium live event on Sunday, May 28. The only other match announced for the PLE is Carmelo Hayes (c) vs. Bron Breakker for the NXT Championship.
While no concrete update is available, Tiffany Stratton is the rumoured favorite to win the NXT Women's Title tournament and become the next champion since the 24-year-old superstar has immense talent and potential to be the next face of the NXT female roster.
The other two opening-round matches will go down on next week's episode of NXT. From the left side of the bracket, Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade will respectively battle Jacy Jayne and Fallon Henley to secure spots in the next round.
Speaking of next week, NXT will also see the return of Noam Dar's talk show segment. After returning to NXT TV, a few weeks ago, the former Cruiserweight Superstar will have Dragon Lee as his guest on the show.
