WWE Raw: Former champion’s legit injury and its impact on Summerslam title match

Bengaluru, July 26: An injury angle was done on WWE Raw to amp things up for a title match over the Women's World Championship. While the match should be intact for SummerSlam, the injured superstar was legit ruled out of action.

Liv Morgan is the concerned superstar who will reportedly not be seen on WWE TV for weeks to follow and this could turn out to be a major blow for the creative team given she's been one of the star powers of Monday Night Raw.

As seen on Raw, Byron Saxton interviewed Liv Morgan, backstage and informed that her tag team partner Raquel Rodriguez suffered a knee injury due to Rhea Ripley's attack from last week. Liv indicated that she was coming after Rhea.

The Women's World Champion eventually showed up and advised Liv to stay away from her. Despite this, a match between the two superstars was scheduled to happen on Raw which never went down.

Before the match bell could ring, Rhea attacked Liv and sent her into the barricade, shoulder-first. The injured arm was further damaged as Rhea stomped on it with a Steel Chair wrapped around that shoulder area.

According to the reports of Dave Meltzer from Wrestling Observer, WWE did this angle to write Liv Morgan off TV, as she needs another time off to heal from her shoulder injury from which she came back recently.

The former Smackdown Women's Champion was seen with a sling around her arm after the July 17 episode of Raw and Meltzer noted about the seriousness of the injury which should keep her out of action for a long time.

"They don't do an angle like that unless it's serious," the veteran wrestling journalist stated mentioning how the ex-Riott Squad member was crying very hard during that segment. There's no update on how long she'd miss TV time.

Meanwhile, the done injury angle on Raw will help build up to a Rhea Ripley vs. Raquel Rodriguez matchup for the Women's World Championship. While nothing is confirmed, that match could be announced for SummerSlam.

As noted above, Rhea already hurt Liv's tag team partner Raquel, the week before and injured her knee in a kayfabe manner which resulted in Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville winning WWE Women's Tag Team Championship from Liv and Raquel.
