WWE Raw: IC Title Contender’s Tournament And Returning Match Set For September 2 Episode

WWE Raw kicked off a tournament to crown the new number-one contender to the Intercontinental Championship, this week where two of the four finalists have been determined with the rest of the two to be declared, next week.

The format of the tournament that was originally declared on the August 19 episode of Raw was further illustrated in the latest edition which suggested that four participants will be competing to set up a fatal-4-way.

The winner of that match will get a shot at Bron Breakker's Intercontinental Championship on the September 9 episode of Raw. The first two participants alongside the next two contender's match lineups are now set.

On the August 26 episode of Raw, Jey Uso defeated Kofi Kingston and Karrion Kross in a Triple Threat Match to advance in the Intercontinental Championship Number-One Contender's Tournament. Uso pinned Kross after hitting a spear and a splash off the top rope.

Moving on in the show, Pete Dunne defeated The Miz and Xavier Woods in another Triple Threat Match to advance in the Intercontinental Championship Number-One Contender's Tournament. Dunne pinned Miz after hitting The Bitter End finisher after sending Woods out of the ring.

To continue things in the tourney, two further triple threats have been announced for the next episode of Raw with the lineups being - Ilja Dargunov vs. Dragon Lee vs. Dominik Mysterio and Sheamus vs. Bronson Reed vs. Ludwig Kaiser.

A returning match for WWE Raw Superstar Zelina Vega will also go down, next week after she showed up on TV, last night. This happened during a match where Damage CTRL's IYO SKY and Kairi Sane defeated The Pure Fusion Collective's Zoey Stark and Shayna Baszler.

Vega appeared behind Sonya Deville who was trying to distract SKY and Sane from ringside and sent her to the ring post. The attack came as an aftermath of Deville and cohorts previously taking Vega out of action with a backstage attack.

The September 2 episode of WWE Monday Night Raw takes place at the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado just a day after the same venue hosts the No Mercy premium live event under the NXT brand. The current match card set for the weekly show is given below:
