WWE Raw: Returnee teases association with new Number-One Contenders

On this week's episode of Monday Night Raw, WWE has crowned a new set of number-one contenders to Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill's Women's Tag Team Championship by hosting a multi-team matchup in the second hour of the show.

The team of Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark defeated Damage CTRL (Dakota Kai & Kairi Sane), Ivy Nile & Maxxine Dupri, and Katana Chance & Kayden Carter in a Fatal-4-Way encounter to become the new challengers for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship.

Dupri had the ankle lock applied on Kai but Sane connected with the Insane elbow to break the hold. Baszler neutralized Sane with the Kirifuda Clutch as Stark superkicked Dupri while Baszler knocked her out with a knee strike for the pin-fall win.

With this, Baszler and Stark have earned the right to challenge for the WWE Women's Tag Team titles held by Belair and Cargill. No date has been announced for the Belair & Cargill vs. Baszler & Stark title matchup.

But this match could likely be announced for this Saturday's King & Queen of the Ring premium live event if Belair gets eliminated from the Queen of the Ring tournament on this Friday's SmackDown episode.

Belair is scheduled to face Nia Jax in the semifinal of the Queen of the Ring tournament, this Friday night on SmackDown in Saudi Arabia. Belair and Cargill have held the Women's Tag titles since defeating Sane and Asuka at Backlash on May 4 in France.

Interestingly after Baszler and Stark's win on Raw, Sonya Deville returned in a backstage segment with them and offered a handshake with some sort of deal. However, Baszler turned it down without properly listening to it.

This marked Deville's first appearance, since suffering a torn ACL in a match on the July 28, 2023 SmackDown episode. Deville and Chelsea Green were then Women's Tag Team Champions which forced WWE to replace Deville with Piper Niven as the makeshift tag champ.
