WWE Raw: Trish Stratus returns to help crown new champs; Brock Lesnar accepts Wrestlemania challenge

Bengaluru, February 28: In a thrilling title main event showdown on this week's Raw, WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus made her return to help Becky Lynch and her longtime friend and fellow WWE Hall of Famer Lita to become new champions.

The team of Becky Lynch and Lita challenged DAMAGE CTRL members Dakota Kai and IYO SKY from WWE Women's Tag Team Titles in the final segment of the February 27 episode of Raw.

DAMAGE CTRL leader Bayley was continuously trying to interfere in the match which led Trish to come out and take her out with a Chic Kick.

The distraction allowed Becky to lock up the Dis-Arm-Her submission on the ring apron while Lita connected with the Twist of Fate and thereby came off the ropes with the Litasault to secure the pin-fall win.

This marked the end of DAMAGE CTRL's second title reign that started back in September 2022. They haven't defended the tag titles since the December 16 episode of Smackdown until the latest bygone episode of Raw.

On the other hand, Lita has now become a champion in the WWE for the first time since 2006 after dropping the women's title at the Unforgiven PPV. This win also marked the beginning of the maiden tag title reign for Becky.

As per the earlier reports from Fightful, "creative changes" led to the cancellation of Trish Stratus' segment on WWE Raw, last week and the WWE Hall of Famer left the show in her hometown of Toronto before the Ding Dong Hello talk show with Lynch and Lita.

With Lynch & Lita winning the tag titles and Trish coming back, rumours are rife that the trio could end up facing the three DAMAGE CTRL leaders in a six-woman tag team match at WrestleMania 39.

On the flip side, recent reports also suggested that the title change was imminent on Raw since WWE wants Lynch & Lita to possibly defend their tag titles against the team of Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler in a marquee match at WrestleMania 39.

Speaking of the premium live event, the top attraction from WWE, Brock Lesnar will indeed be in action against Omos at WrestleMania 39 in a rare capacity where his opponent will be way bigger than him.

On last week's episode of Raw, there was a backstage segment where Omos and MVP challenged The Beast Incarnate to a match at WrestleMania 39. They also invited Lesnar to appear on Raw to answer the challenge.

The 10-time former WWE World Champion then showed up at MVP's VIP Lounge on Raw as the special guest. Lesnar quickly accepted the challenge which called for a celebration with drinks in the ring.

MVP accidentally spit champagne in Lesnar's face as the latter responded with a massive F5 on MVP. After Lesnar left the ring, WWE officially started promoting this gigantic encounter set for WrestleMania 39.
