Roman Reigns to defend IC title against Triple H tonight

Bengaluru, December 8: Triple H will take on Roman Reigns in a street fight match at the WWE Live in Abu Dhabi on Friday (December 8), according to reports reports from

Roman Reigns won the Intercontinental Championship at the post-Survivor Series episode of Monday Night Raw as the former champion went on a hiatus to for the film Marine 6. Hence, WWE gave away the mid-card title to its marquee player.

It has to be noted that the prime champion of WWE Raw, Brock Lesnar is on his routine time-off from the flagship brand. So, the creative team wanted to keep the IC title in the main event spotlight with the marquee player holding it. As expected, Roman Reigns has proven to be a strong fighting champion with the belt around his shoulder.

In the last couple of weeks, he defended it successfully. But, tonight, he will face his biggest challenge, till date against The Game Triple H in a no disqualification match.

The match was confirmed earlier while WWE live event schedule was released. But, the stipulation has changed with the recent confirmation. Previously, these two fought in the main event of Wrestlemania 32 at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas.

The Big Dog is quite excited to face the 14-time world champion and opened up about this match to,

"I'm super excited. Going against Triple H, I think that speaks for itself. I'm always down to defend my yard... It's not just a regular match, it's for my Intercontinental title. I'm looking forward to put it up on the line... that's the type of champion I want to be."

Triple H also spoke about this potential bout in Abu Dhabi and delivered a huge statement. Once this match gets concluded, he is all set to feature in another main event in WWE Live in India against Jinder Mahal. These are the comments from The Game,

"I bring a different intensity that my era brought to the ring. This is kind of a rematch from WrestleMania 32... and Roman is probably one of the most intense competitors in the WWE right now so I look forward to stepping into the ring with him. He calls himself the 'Big Dog', I call myself 'The Game'... So, we'll see."
