Bengaluru, Jan 28: The 31st edition of the WWE Royal Rumble PPV is almost upon us. This is that particular event of the year where the excitement remains all-time high as we kick things off to the Road to Wrestlemania. On this night, we expect multiple huge returns for the prestigious battle royal that hands away, the main event spotlight to a superstar.

This year’s event is being promoted as more rumble than ever since there will be a women’s Royal Rumble match, as well. 30 women will compete in it to determine a winner who will get a shot either to Raw or Smackdown women’s championship at Wrestlemania. Considering this, the night is going to be a historic one.

Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania will be the host of this year’s Rumble event. We can catch the live broadcast of the first dual-brand PPV of 2018, live. Check out the schedule, here,

Check out the match card of Royal Rumble 2018 with predictions:

WWE RAW Tag Team Championships

Seth Rollins and Jason Jordan (c’s) vs. Sheamus and Cesaro

Prediction: The tag team of Rollins and Jordan are quite interesting since there’s hardly a time that they jell along. It is certain, a fallout is bound to happen. However, it is not likely to happen at Royal Rumble. Already, there have been quite a few title changes on the Raw tag team division. This time around, they will be retaining the title against The Bar but the feud will continue even after the PPV.

WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championships (2-out-of-3 falls match)

The Usos (c’s) vs. Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin

Prediction: Technically, Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable are incredible performers but they are the least appreciated wrestlers by the fans. Hence, the creative turned them heel. With a stipulation involved in this match, it is certain that they will deliver an incredible match. In the end, the Usos should prevail in their penitentiary locking in their challengers unless WWE decides to strip the belts off them due to recent arrest situation of Jey Uso.

WWE Championship

2-on-1 Handicap Match

AJ Styles (c) vs. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn

Prediction: This is first-time ever that WWE set up a match where there’s a chance of receiving the first-ever co-WWE Champions. This sounds quite an interesting concept under the Freebird rule. As much as we would love to see it, it is not going to happen in a time when we are heading to Wrestlemania. AJ Styles is the flag-bearer of Smackdown Live and will carry the prime title until the biggest event of the year representing the brand.

WWE Universal Championship

Triple Threat Match

Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Kane vs. Braun Strowman

Prediction: This match will definitely steal the show. From the get-go, the three of them will tear each other apart. There will be plenty of mark-out moments with all three monster wrecking carnage on the PPV night. Braun Strowman is definitely the most favourite to come out as the winner. However, WWE is eyeing for a Lesnar vs. Reigns match at 'Mania which is why the beast incarnate will still be the champion even after this night.

Women’s Royal Rumble match

Prediction: With almost 12 spots remaining vacant and no other superstars remaining on the female roster, there will be numerous surprise appearances in this women’s Royal Rumble match. Name like Bella Twins, Michelle McCool, Molly Holly and multiple NXT superstars will make this first-ever match memorable.

Asuka is undoubtedly the favourite to win the contest to have a championship match at Wrestlemania. A potential win for Ronda Rousey can’t be wiped out in a huge surprise capacity. I would also say Nikki Bella might also turn out to be the winner shocking the world and setting up a big match against Charlotte Flair at Wrestlemania.

Men’s Royal Rumble match

Prediction: The lineup for the men’s Royal Rumble match is a star-studded one with several former WWE champions already in it. As for this year’s Royal Rumble, Shinsuke Nakamura is the most favorite one to win it and set up the dream match against AJ Styles. The second favorite will definitely not please the Philly fans as it is none other than Roman Reigns.

Back in 2015, they booed the hell out of Reigns’ win in this same match. History might repeat itself as “Thaw Big Dawg” is still the one to enter the match and turns out to be the last one standing in the ring, setting up the inevitable match against Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 34.
