WWE Royal Rumble 2018 results with video highlights

The 31st edition of Royal Rumble event took place last night in a big way with two prestigious battle royal matches.

Bengaluru, January 29: The 31st edition of Royal Rumble event took place last night in a big way with two prestigious battle royal matches plus, the championship matches were also in-store for the the event held at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania..

WWE Raw tag team championship match (Seth Rollins and Jason Jordan vs. Sheamus and Cesaro)

Seth Rollins had to fight this match all alone after being left behind by his partner Jason Jordan. The latter one was sent through the ring post as the match started and never recovered from it. Despite offensive moves from Rollins, Sheamus and Cesaro delivered White Noise-Clothesline combo to end as the victorious team.

WWE Smackdown tag team championship match (2 out of 3 falls) (The Usos vs. Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin)

The Usos proved to be the dominant champions at the Royal Rumble by having a clean sweep over the challengers. Chad gable digested a superkick from both the champions for the first pinfall. Gable and Benjamin decided to come back in a hurried way that cost the latter one to get pinned with a roll up as the Usos retained the belts without putting in much effort.



WWE Championship match (2-on-1 Handicap Match) (AJ Styles vs. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn)

Controversies seemed endless when it comes to Smackdown Live and the prime title match was no different. In the middle of the match, Zayn who was the legal man was sent over the top rope. Owens was rolled up by the champion for the pinfall win counted by the referee. AJ Styles retained the title as the heel duo went berserk complaining to the authorities about invalid pinfall.



WWE Universal Championship match (Triple Threat match) (Brock Lesnar vs. Kane vs. Braun Strowman)

Brock Lesnar was on the charge from the get-go as he delivered numerous German Suplexes to Strowman in the beginning. Thereafter, he put both Strowman and Kane through the announce table. But, the monster among men was back on his feet and hit Lesnar with slams. Kane then put him down with chair-shots but fell victim to the champion. After digesting an F-5, he was pinned by the beast incarnate who retained the championship.

30 Woman Royal Rumble match

Stephanie McMahon was the special commentator whereas Maria Menounos announced this historic matchup. There were multiple surprise appearances from the NXT like Ember Moon, Kairi Sane and also some yesteryear stars like Jacqueline, Molly Holly, Beth Phoenix, Lita, Kelly Kelly, Torrie Wilson all made an entry to the Rumble to please the rowdy crowd in Philly. While, The Bella Twins appeared as number 27 & 28 whereas Trish Stratus closed the fray by entering at #30.

The final four were The Bella Twins, Asuka and Sasha Banks, the Bellas threw Banks over the top rope. Thereafter, Nikki betrayed her sister by toppling her over the rope, as well. Lastly, as expected the winner, Asuka made history by eliminating Nikki to become the first-ever women’s Royal Rumble winner.

These were the serial entries into the match with elimination status,

#1: Rusev, eliminated by Hardy & Wyatt

#2: Finn Balor, eliminated by Cena

#3: Rhyno, eliminated by Corbin.

#4: Baron Corbin, eliminated by Balor

#5: Heath Slater, eliminated by Wyatt

#6: Elias, eliminated by Cena

#7: Andrade Cien Almas, eliminated by Orton

#8: Bray Wyatt, eliminated by Matt Hardy.

#9: Big E, eliminated by Mahal

#10: Sami Zayn replaced original entrant, Tye Dillinger, eliminated by Nakamura

#11: Sheamus, eliminated by Slater

#12: Xavier Woods, eliminated by Mahal

#13: Apollo Crews, eliminated by Cesaro

#14: Shinsuke Nakamura

#15: Cesaro, eliminated by Rollins

#16: Kofi Kingston, eliminated by Almas

#17: Jinder Mahal, eliminated by Kofi

#18: Seth Rollins, eliminated by Reigns

#19: Matt Hardy eliminated by Wyatt

#20: John Cena, eliminated by Nakamura

#21: The Hurricane, eliminated by Cena

#22: Aiden English, eliminated by Balor

#23: Adam Cole, eliminated by Mysterio

#24: Randy Orton, eliminated by Reigns

#25: Titus O'Neil, eliminated by Reigns

#26: The Miz, eliminated by Reigns

#27: Rey Mysterio, eliminated by Balor

#28: Roman Reigns, eliminated by Nakamura

#29: Goldust, eliminated by Ziggler

#30: Dolph Ziggler, eliminated by Balor

The Hurricane, Cien Almas, Adam Cole and lastly Rey Mysterio were the surprise entries into the match. Mysterio received a thunderous reception from the crowd before being eliminated by Balor who was quickly eliminated by Cena, in the closing moments. Nakamura eliminated Cena, thereafter as we were down to the final two Reigns and Nakamura. The Artist then toppled Reigns from his yard to win the 2018 Royal Rumble match.
