Bengaluru, March 22: Over the last few years, we have seen ladder matches for the Intercontinental Championship at Wrestlemania. WWE followed this tradition in the year 2015 and 2016 but skipped it, last year. The concept was unique since the crowd loves this kind of multi-person ladder match.

With multiple names involved in the current Intercontinental title picture, it was believed that WWE might intend to bring this exciting gimmick match back at this year's Wrestlemania. The speculations suggested this after the triple threat match was confirmed for the show, two weeks ago.

The Miz is set to defend his title against Seth Rollins and Finn Balor, at the same time. We assumed more superstars like Braun Strowman or Elias would be added to the contest and this would be made a multi-person ladder match. But, according to the recent reports that is not the case.

The report from Wrestling Observer Newsletter states that those plans were nixed out. The ladder match gimmick will not be brought back. The reason behind the same is that another such match will be held just one night before Wrestlemania. So, a repetition wouldn't be nice.

"Dave Meltzer stated on the Wrestling Observer Radio that it would make no sense for the WWE to have a ladder match on Saturday and another one on Sunday at WrestleMania.

Circulating rumors of a multi-man ladder match for the IC title seem to be false as WWE looks to be going forward with a triple threat match featuring Finn Balor, Seth Rollins, and The Miz."

As per the recent announcement from NXT, a new belt would be introduced into the brand. Six men will compete in this match to grab the title which will be hanging high above the ring. The participants of the match are Velveteen Dream, Killian Dain, Lars Sullivan, Ricochet, EC3 and Adam Cole for the brand new NXT North American Championship.

The triple threat match for the Intercontinental Championship will be a good replacement for the ladder match as the three involved are marquee superstars from the flagship show. So, they are likely to deliver to the peak to make the match worthy to watch.
