Bengaluru, February 13: The cold war between the two authority figures of Smackdown Live is not expected to go away, anytime soon. We thought that the GM had confirmed the Fastlane main event, last week. But, that changed overnight after the commissioner followed up with a huge announcement regarding the title.

A new contender’s matchup was confirmed on tonight’s Smackdown that will finalize the WWE title match at the Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield, California.

The live telecast in India will be available via the Sony Ten 1 Network on Wednesday (February 14) from 6.30 AM (IST), while later in the day the repeat will be aired at 12 PM and 5 PM on the same network.

As per the announcement from last week, Dolph Ziggler is set to return on tonight's Smackdown Live. He was initially scheduled to take on against Baron Corbin in a singles contest. But, Shane McMahon made this match a number one contender’s match for the WWE Championship which means the winner gets an opportunity for the prime title at WWE Fastlane PPV. This means it will be a fatal-4-way contest.

WWE.com teased who could walk out victorious from tonight’s contest via this post,

“Dolph Ziggler returns to SmackDown LIVE for the first time in seven weeks. By the end of the night, The Showoff could be walking right into a WWE Championship opportunity. SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon revealed on Twitter Thursday morning that the winner of the battle between Ziggler and Baron Corbin will be added to the WWE Championship Match at WWE Fastlane.”

The show-off decided to walk away from the blue brand as he wanted himself to be in the spotlight. Now that he is finally returning to the show, it must be evident that the creative team has big plan for him in the near future, especially in the Wrestlemania season. Hence, he is the favorite to become the fourth participant in the Fastlane title match.

This was an announcement from the Shane McMahon to counter Daniel Bryan handing over numerous opportunities to Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, on weekly basis. So, we expect to see the conflict between the two of them as well. Also, on how the other three participants of the match, AJ Styles, Owens and Zayn will react to this announcement.

Last week, Charlotte Flair took out one member of the Riott Squad in the form of Liv Morgan. She indicated that there’re two more to go. Hence, it is likely that she will go after to another member of the faction. Sarah Logan is likely to be her target, this week as an official match between the two has been confirmed.

Bobby Roode was done with Rusev’s challenge, last week by defeating him on Smackdown Live. But, Randy Orton appeared out of nowhere to deliver RKOs to everybody adding new complexion to the US title scenario. Hence, it is likely to see Orton compete for the midcard title as well. Plus, tonight, Roode will issue an open challenge for his title.

Also, in the tag team division, The New Day will take on Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin in a tag team contest.
