WWE Smackdown Live results with video highlights: August 29, 2017

Bengaluru, August 30: Following two debuts on last week’s edition of Smackdown Live, the expectation levels were very high for this week. The championship reign of Jinder Mahal continued but the question was when will he have to defend it next against Nakamura. Plus, the women’s championship scenario needed to be addressed as well.

The WWE Champion, Jinder Mahal alongside the Singh Brothers kicked things off on Smackdown Live. They went on to address how Nakamura put all of them down single handedly. Plus, a tag team main event match was also announced between the team of Nakamura & Rusev against Orton & Nakamura.
Jinder's promo was cut short by Nakamura who came down to attack all of them again. This time, the numbers game caught up as the trio ambushed Nakamura. Randy Orton came out to make the save but he was stopped by Rusev who delivered a super kick to knockout his Summerslam opponent. Jinder hit the Khallas on Nakamura to end the segment.
AJ Styles began the United States open challenge on Smackdown which was accepted by Tye Dillinger. The champion retained the title in a quick matchup before Baron Corbin tried to assault him. Styles connected with a Phenomenal Forearm on Corbin to shove him off the ring.
Kevin Owens furiously cut a promo of Shane McMahon before joining the commentary table for a match between Sami Zayn and Aiden English. Owens turned into the guest referee and gave a fast count to hand over a win to English.
The New Day had a non-title match against The Usos with the winner able to choose the tag team title rematch. The champions picked up the win and they gained the advantage. Bobby Roode got a match against Mike Kanellis and picked up the win by a Glorious DDT.
Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable teamed up for the first time on Smackdown and defeated the Ascension in a comprehensive way.
While, Tamina competed against a rookie competitor with Lana by ring side and picked up the win. Natalya and Carmella had yet another confrontation in the backstage over the Money in the Bank briefcase.
In the main event of the evening, Randy Orton was able to neutralize Jinder with a DDT whereas Nakamura hit the Kinshasa on Rusev to pick up the victory.
During the victory celebration, Orton hit Nakamura with an RKO to pick up some momentum for next week. It will be these two who will collide for the WWE Championship number one contender's spot.
