WWE Smackdown Live results with video highlights: August 22, 2017

Bengaluru, August 23: Smackdown Live addressed the fallouts from the Summerslam event in a big way on the latest episode. WWE is still in the city of Brooklyn, New York and hence the show marked the consecutive 4th night at the Barclays Center.

The show kicked off with AJ Styles as the crowd erupted to welcome the Face that runs the place. He issued the United States title open challenge to which anybody from backstage can answer. Kevin Owens showed up responding to it. He demanded yet another shot at the US title for getting robbed by Shane McMahon.

The Smackdown commissioner did not take a long time to come out and state that he took the fair and square decision. But Owens stuck to his demand lobbying for yet another title match. Styles granted the match on the main event with a special referee of Owens' choice.

Aiden English stood inside the ring to sing a song which got cut by Bobby Roode, the former NXT Champion. The Glorious One made his debut on the blue brand with a victory over English by hitting the glorious DDT. Following the win, he cut a big promo stating the Smackdown will be glorious from now onwards.

Carmella talked a bit of trash against her partner Natalya for the night. This cost her big during the tag team contest against Becky Lynch and Naomi. Lynch gave her a clothesline and Naomi followed it with a moon-sault off the top rope to pick up the win.

The General Manager, Daniel Bryan was seen talking to Chad Gable about his partner Jason Jordan moving to Raw. But, he introduced him to his new partner, the returning Shelton Benjamin. The former Intercontinental Champion will start teaming up with Gable from next week onwards.

At Backstage, Dolph Ziggler gave an interview indicating that next week, we might see him in a repackaged avatar. Lana and Tamina had yet another backstage segment where they decided to go after the Smackdown Women's title from next week. Also, The Usos defeated Hype Bros in a non-title match.

After what transpired at Summerslam, Nakamura got a match against The Singh Brothers to seek his redemption. He was ambushed for a bit by them before recuperating and defeat them with a chokehold. After the match, he was also able to hit the Kinshasa on Jinder Mahal.

Baron Corbin was the special guest referee for the US title match between Styles and Owens. It was the last opportunity for the challenger to get his hands on the title as long as Styles remains the champion.

Corbin acted partially on behalf of Owens that forced Shane McMahon to come out to the ring. He took over the job from Corbin as Styles connected with a Phenomenal Forearm to Owens. McMahon counted the pinfall to declare Styles as the champion who won in a fairly way.
