WWE Smackdown Live results with video highlights: February 13, 2018

Bengaluru, February 14: Last week on Smackdown Shane McMahon altered the scenario of the WWE Championship with a huge announcement which gave an opportunity to a returning superstar to fight for the prime title of the blue brand and it also affected the main event of the Fastlane PPV. Here are the results from the show hosted by the Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield, California.
Dolph Ziggler's return to WWE opened this week's Smackdown Live. He was waiting for his match against Baron Corbin who was being attacked in the backstage by Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. After putting Corbin down, the duo charged into the ring to target Ziggler. Despite the resistance, the show-off was laid down in a two-on-one assault.
Later, Charlotte Flair competed against Sarah Logan of the Riott Squad in the opening contest of Smackdown Live. Becky Lynch and Naomi were present at ringside as backup to the champion. Logan tried hard to pick up the pinfall with a back suplex but got trapped in a Natural Selection to lose the contest.
After what transpired in the opening segment of the show, Shane McMahon seemed furious with Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. So, he booked two separate matches affecting the Fastlane PPV main event. Kevin Owens vs. Baron Corbin and Sami Zayn vs. Dolph Ziggler with the stipulation that if Corbin and Ziggler win they will be added to the WWE Championship match.
The first match between Owens and Corbin took place right after the announcement. As per Shane's order, Zayn was banned from ringside. The contest was a hard-hitting affair with Corbin delivering the Deep-six but Owens countered it with a kick to the head. Corbin backfired with the End of Days for the pinfall win to head into Fastlane.
Next up, Bobby Roode issued the United States Open Challenge, soon Randy Orton's music hit the arena and he was expected to accept the challenge. But, Jinder Mahal came down to interrupt the moment with a heel promo. His partner, Sunil Singh digested an RKO from Orton to the delight of the crowd. This distraction allowed Mahal to plant both Orton and Roode with Khallas to end the segment.
Later, in a promo The New Day were in the ring with pancakes all over the place but their entertaining promo was cut short by Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin who were out there to have their scheduled match. Woods distracted Benjamin who was floored via a kick from Kingston. Later, Gable was planted with the Midnight Hour for the victory in favor of the New Day.
Dolph Ziggler vs. Sami Zayn took place in the main event of Smackdown Live. If Owens interfered in the match then Zayn would have been disqualified from WWE title match at Fastlane.
The entertaining affair saw Ziggler hitting the Zig-zag but only for Zayn to kick out. Zayn then hit an exploder on his opponent who countered with a superkick for the win. He became the fifth participant of the Fastlane main event via this win.
