En route to the 2024 Clash at the Castle premium live event, the WWE SmackDown brigade is coming up with another live edition of the show with the anticipation being high about the confirmation of a new championship match for the PLE.
AJ Styles pulled a major swerve on the latest bygone episode of SmackDown which should automatically make him the new challenger for the WWE Championship held by Cody Rhodes and the official announcement should happen, tonight.

Last week on SmackDown, Styles came to the ring and convinced everybody that he was heading into retirement, something he had admittedly been thinking about for some time. This came after his loss at Backlash to Rhodes for the WWE Championship.
During his speech, Styles had his long-time tag team partner The OC members Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson followed by the WWE Champion Cody Rhodes to share an emotional moment before eventually turning on the latter.
As Gallows and Anderson prevented the security from heading into the ring, Styles delivered a vicious assault on Rhodes which ended after Rhodes was planted on the floor with a Styles Clash off the steel ring steps.
As a follow-up, the WWE Champion has been announced to be on tonight's SmackDown to address the attack. Dave Meltzer spoke on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter about the segment and hinted at Rhodes vs. Styles II being in the pipeline for Clash at the Castle.
Last Friday, Indi Hartwell confronted Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair backstage and she wanted to make Cargill pay for hurting Candice LeRae. Cargill offered a singles match that has now been added to this week's SmackDown.
During Tomasso Ciampa's win against Austin Theory in a singles match on the May 31 episode, Johnny Gargano and Grayson Waller got into an argument which continued on social media. As a result, these two will also collide in a singles contest.
The June 07, 2024 episode of WWE SmackDown will be airing, live from the KFC Yum Center in Louisville, Kentucky. The second last blue brand episode before Clash at the Castle has the confirmed match card as given below:
