WWE SmackDown: New names declared for King of the Ring tournament

The 2024 edition of King of the Ring tournament hype-ups continued through the latest episode of SmackDown and superstars are gradually throwing their names into the fray to win the prestigious tourney and possibly elevate their career to the next level.

As seen on the latest episode of SmackDown, three names declared themselves to be the participants of the King of the Ring 2024 tournament. These are LA Knight, Santos Escobar, and the latest entry into the roster, Carmelo Hayes.

In a promo segment, Hayes declared his entry into the King of the Ring Tournament. Bobby Lashley interrupted and offered Carmelo some advice, but Melo wasn't all ears. Lashley further warned him to be careful of who he disrespects on SmackDown.

Then in a matchup, LA Knight defeated Angel and declared his spot in the tourney. Legado Del Fantasma stablemate Santos Escobar was quick to throw his hat as he also wanted to have the honor of becoming a King of the Ring.

During the April 22 episode of Monday Night Raw, Drew McIntyre, Gunther, and Xavier Woods were the first three names to declare their entry into the King of the Ring 2024 tournament and with that six names are currently there in the bracket.

WWE is yet to officially announce the bracket to reveal which superstars will collide against each other. We do know, however, that the tournament will commence on this week's Raw and it will continue, thereafter through the next few episodes including SmackDown.

King of the Ring was originally slated for a comeback, last year with the titular name being used for a premium live event. Ultimately, Roman Reigns crossing 1000 days as champion converted that PLE into Night of Champions.

This year, the WWE King of the Ring premium live event takes place on Saturday, May 25 at the Jeddah Superdome in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia where the ongoing tournament will culminate alongside the Queen of the Ring tournament.
