WWE SmackDown Recap

The show opened with WWE Champion John Cena, who once again had Randy Orton for company as the pair set up a match for the upcoming Backlash premium live event. Orton ended the segment by delivering yet another RKO to Cena.

Later, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis introduced the newest additions to the blue brand: the dynamic tag team of Nathan Frazer and Axiom, now officially known as FrAxiom.

The high-flying duo made their SmackDown debut in a tag team match against the established team of Los Garza (Angel and Berto), signaling an exciting new chapter for the former NXT standouts on Friday nights.

The biggest shock of the night came courtesy of Nia Jax, who made her long-awaited comeback by targeting WWE Women's Champion Tiffany Stratton. Jax launched a vicious attack on the titleholder, immediately establishing herself as a force to be reckoned with in the SmackDown women's division.

Later in the evening, Jax sent a clear message to Naomi backstage, warning her against any interference in her plans. Another familiar face emerged to a thunderous ovation as Aleister Black made his return to WWE.

The Miz was in the ring, lamenting his perceived lack of respect and opportunities, even in light of injuries to Randy Orton and Rey Mysterio's potential WrestleMania 41 opponents. Black's ominous presence cut short Miz's complaints, culminating in a devastating Black Mass that left The Miz laid out and the crowd in a frenzy.

In the first title showdown of the night, Zelina Vega dethroned Chelsea Green to become the new WWE Women's United States Champion. This victory marks a significant moment for Vega, making her only the second woman to hold the newly established title and ending Green's inaugural reign.

Later in the main event, The Street Profits retained their WWE Tag Team Championship in a chaotic TLC Match against #DIY and the Motor City Machine Guns. The match featured numerous high-risk maneuvers, including Johnny Gargano's top-of-the-ladder Spinning Flatliner on Montez Ford, Ford using a fan's prosthetic leg as a weapon, and Ford's Swanton Bomb onto Tommaso Ciampa through a table.

The Motor City Machine Guns also delivered a Skull & Bones to Gargano through a table, and Angelo Dawkins speared Ciampa off a ladder through another table. Ultimately, Montez Ford climbed the inside of the ladder to grab the titles after knocking down Alex Shelley and Gargano.

Overall, this SmackDown After Mania episode was anything but a comedown, delivering impactful returns, a title change, and the arrival of promising new talent, setting the stage for an intriguing future on the blue brand.
