Paul Heyman opened this week's SmackDown with a message to Cody Rhodes, stating Roman Reigns will come for the Undisputed WWE Championship by declaring his entry into the Royal Rumble 2025. Rhodes arrived in the ring, but was provoked by Kevin Owens.

While Rhodes went after Owens, who was among the audience, Heyman was surrounded by Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga of the Bloodline. But, the duo were neutrallized by Jimmy Uso, setting up a tag team match for the main event.

Later in the first contest of the evening, Chelsea Green competed in her first Women's United States Title defense when she took on Michin, the same competitor she defeated to win the championship at Saturday Night's Main Event.

Michin put up a good fight, but Piper Niven once again got involved, forcing Michin to take out Green's partner with a top-rope dive. Michin leaped off the top rope onto Green, but the champion reversed it and grabbed a fistful of tights to pin Michin.

Following their confrontation last week, Pretty Deadly and Los Garza squared off in an attempt to move closer to taking on WWE Tag Team Champions #DIY. Santos Escobar and Elektra Lopez intervened after both sides tried to cheat to win, enabling Angel and Berto to hit MTY to win the match.

In an attempt to regain the championship he had lost at Survivor Series, LA Knight faced United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura with a great deal of confidence. Knight used the BFT to his advantage, but The Bloodline ruined his chances of winning and cause a disqualification of the contest.

Following the match, The Bloodline was subdued by Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and Jimmy Uso storming the scene. This added more fire to Rhodes and Jimmy's meeting against Fatu and Tonga before they faced off in the headliner.

Later, The Motor City Machine Guns also moved closer to sealing a title match against WWE Tag Team Champions #DIY as they battled A-Town Down Under. The two teams left everything on the mat in a grueling contest, but Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley hit the Skull & Bones to win.

In a Fatal 4-Way Match, Bayley, Nia Jax, Bianca Belair, and Naomi faced off to decide who would take on WWE Women's Champion Tiffany Stratton, who successfully cashed-in her MITB contract last week.

Candice LeRae descended to the ringside in an attempt to assist Jax in winning the bout. LeRae prevented The EST from winning, even forcing Belair to unintentionally use her braids on Naomi, her tag team partner.

In the end, Bayley became the new No. 1 Contender by hitting Naomi with the Rose Plant after the altercation between the other two contestants - Belair and Jax, spilled over the announce table.

In the main event, Owens played a big role, distracting Rhodes as the duo collided, leaving Jimmy Uso alone in the ring to face the tag team of Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga, who capitalized and secured the win after Fatu hit an Impaler DDT followed by a moonsault.
