WWE SmackDown: Spoiler on Roman Reigns revealing new World Championship belt

Bengaluru, June 2: For over a year, Roman Reigns has been ruling the roost on the WWE Smackdown roster with his dual championship belts. Now, it's perhaps time for him to lighten the load on his shoulder by unifying those titles for real.

In the main event of Night 2 of WrestleMania 38 in April 2022, the-then Universal Champion Roman Reigns defeated the-then WWE Champion Brock Lesnar to become the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion and thereby win the two top world championship belts in the WWE.

Since then, the undisputed champion is carrying both belts with him. In the meantime, he also completed 1000 days as the Universal Champion this past weekend on the day of the Night of Champions premium live event in Jeddah.

This calls in for a celebration that's scheduled to air on tonight's episode of WWE Smackdown on FOX from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The latest reports suggest that WWE might replace Reigns' dual belts with a new one during this segment.

According to what Fightful Select has to offer, WWE sent out several memos, regarding the 1,000-day celebration of The Tribal Chief on SmackDown and one of those included the mention of a "New WWE Universal Championship."

It was noted that there will be a podium on SmackDown where the new championship design will be unveiled. While nothing from WWE's part has been confirmed, this belt should be called the new WWE Universal Championship.

Additionally, a coronation will be there for Roman Reigns to hold the new belt which was described by the source as a similar one to his cousin, The Rock's new WWE Championship design unveiling in February 2013.

In the main event of WrestleMania 39 - Night Two, Roman Reigns defeated Cody Rhodes to retain the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship and there's no update on when he would put the title on the line, next.

Heading into this week's Smackdown, the champion should be in a foul mood after failing to win the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships at Night of Champions with Solo Sikoa after Jimmy Uso's betrayal.

One-half of the Usos appeared by the end of the match and took Reigns out of the match by superkick-ing him, twice. Taking advantage of the situation, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn retained the tag titles.

The implosion of The Bloodline will continue on this week's Smackdown. Speculations suggest that Reigns and Sikoa may team up against The Usos in a tag team match at Money in the Bank PLE scheduled in July.
