Years of wait for the WWE Universe will finally come to an end at WrestleMania 40 when The Rock and Roman Reigns will finally meet inside the squared circle as affirmed on the latest episode of SmackDown.
Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns was in attendance of SmackDown in the main event segment alongside The Bloodline members. Roman wasn't happy with the way Seth Rollins mocked his title reign in his WrestleMania promo.

Reigns said Rollins calls himself the workhorse, but he broke his back 3 months after carrying the title. As far as his title reign is concerned, he stated the following, "I work 10 times less than you and I make 10 times more than you."
Roman further said that he's not going to beg Cody Rhodes to face him at WrestleMania as Seth did on Raw. Reigns said Cody can either face the No. 2 champion in Seth or he can face the No. 1 champion in him.
The 2024 Men's Royal Rumble Match Winner Cody Rhodes then came out to face Roman. To start with his promo, he didn't agree with Seth calling the WWE Championship the "Hollywood Title" as he still wants the belt.
Cody then announced that he's coming for Roman Reigns and his undisputed WWE title, but that match won't happen at WrestleMania 40. Cody then wanted to introduce someone to Roman after which The Rock came out.
The Rock and Cody Rhodes shook hands and hugged before Cody left the ring. The Rock and Roman Reigns then came face-to-face in the ring to create a surreal moment as the fans chanted "this is awesome".
Roman Reigns vs. The Rock was thus confirmed for WrestleMania 40 on SmackDown. It was also noted that WWE will officially announce this match at next Thursday's WrestleMania press event in Las Vegas, Nevada.
It should be noted that The Rock never officially claimed to go after Roman Reigns and the WWE Title in any of his promo or recent WWE appearances except for the phrase where he wanted to sit at "The Head of the Table."
As for Cody Rhodes, he's obliged to get a title match opportunity at WrestleMania via his Rumble match win. But it's not clear whether he's volunteered to leave that shot at the grandest stage of them all for The Great One.
