WWE SmackDown: Update on Roman Reigns vs. The New Bloodline rivalry

After coming back on WWE TV at SummerSlam in early August, Roman Reigns was present on the follow-up episode of SmackDown and he will again be there on the upcoming episode of the Friday Night show, this week.

The consecutive appearances might make the fans believe that WWE will soon book Roman Reigns in his next match, possibly at Bash in Berlin scheduled for later this month but that won't be the case.

The OTC - Original Tribal Chief has a bone to pick up with since his return against the new version of The Bloodline led by Solo Sikoa. At SummerSlam, he went right after Sikoa, making way for Cody Rhodes to retain his WWE Title.

Then on SmackDown, last week, Reigns started a brawl with Solo Sikoa, which was interrupted by Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa. But Reigns quickly gained the upper hand, speared Loa, and drove Tama through the barricade.

In an update from The Wrestling Observer Newsletter regarding this storyline, Jacob Fatu was nowhere to be found as WWE wants him to avoid a direct confrontation with Reigns. This will keep Fatu strong until he eventually comes face-to-face with the former champion.

For the time being, Reigns vs. Sikoa would be the feud that WWE will be building on SmackDown while Fatu would be staying away from TV due to the storyline as well as an undisclosed injury reason that he probably picked up at SummerSlam.

Dave Meltzer also added in his report via WON that Roman Reigns will continue to work through a light schedule following his return to the WWE and that his next match might not be scheduled until Survivor Series in November.

"Although, he's working several TV [tapings]. I'm not sure when he's actually wrestling again, but probably ... Survivor Series. I mean, he's not going to be wrestling on the Berlin show, I don't think. There's no indication." (quotes courtesy Wrestling INC)

This storyline will also establish Roman Reigns as a massive babyface figure in the WWE after a long time alongside Cody Rhodes which will help boost the company's overall merchandise sales as reflected already after SummerSlam.
