WWE Summerslam 2023: Challenge laid down on Raw for reported gimmick match

Bengaluru, July 11: The saga between Brock Lesnar and Cody Rhodes began on the Raw after WrestleMania 39 in April and it will reportedly culminate in the final match, a gimmick one at SummerSlam 2023.

Proving the speculations true, the challenge for Brock Lesnar vs. Cody Rhodes III at the Biggest Event of the Summer was finally laid down by the latter one and it will be answered next week.

On the latest episode of Monday Night Raw, Cody Rhodes appeared in a promo session on his storied rivalry against Brock Lesnar. He made his intentions clear on getting the rubber match against The Beast Incarnate at SummerSlam 2023.

Looking forward to vanquishing the 280-pound monster, Cody uttered the following, "What I dream is a rubber match with Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. I'm gonna finish the chapter that you started for no damn reason!"

In an update to the situation, Brock Lesnar has now been confirmed to appear on next week's WWE Raw to answer the challenge and possibly set up the marquee match for Summerslam that will be having a stipulation tagged alongside.

The Wrestling Observer previously informed that the rubber match between Lesnar and Rhodes will have a stipulation that we have not seen in a while. A Bullrope Match was indicated by the source in the following comments.

"There has been a lot of talk about adding a stipulation and one of the ideas is a Bullrope Match. That is not official, and there are multiple other ideas for that match on the table, and no final decision has been made."

A Bullrope Match was last seen on WWE TV at The Great American Bash 2007, where Randy Orton defeated Cody's father, The American Dream Dusty Rhodes. So, it's a no-brainer why Cody might want back the stipulation on TV.

In order to win a Bullrope Match, a wrestler has to touch all four turnbuckles in a row while being tied to his opponent with a bull rope. This is a similar stipulation to a Strap Match in WWE.
