WWE SummerSlam 2023: Mega match already planned featuring Hall of Famer

Bengaluru, March 13: Barely three weeks away in the calendar WrestleMania 39 card is being set up by the WWE during their weekly programming of Raw and Smackdown. At the same time, they are also planting seeds for a mega match at this year's SummerSlam.

WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus made an out-of-the-blue return on Raw, a few weeks ago to help her buddy Lita and Becky Lynch win the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions from DAMAGE CTRL duo Dakota Kai and IYO SKY.

Moving on, Trish announced that she's coming out of retirement to set up a six-woman tag team match alongside Lita and Becky against DAMAGE CTRL - Bayley, Kai, and SKY. Apparently, there's a bigger picture in the ongoing storyline.

As reported in recent times, Trish Stratus was originally supposed to turn heel to set up a singles contest against Becky Lynch for WrestleMania 39. According to WRKD Wrestling on Twitter, this feud is still reserved to result in a legendary match at SummerSlam.

"The long-term plan, as of this moment, is that Trish Stratus will turn heel and work a program with Becky Lynch through SummerSlam."

During the night of Trish Stratus' return on Raw, DAMAGE CTRL leader Bayley was interfering in the women's tag title match in an attempt to assist her tag partners in retaining the gold.

This led the seven-time women's champion to make a shocking return which automatically made the fans believe that Trish vs. Bayley was in-store for WrestleMania.

On the other hand, Becky Lynch and Lita were previously scheduled to defend their tag titles against Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler. Due to Rousey's arm injury, that match was converted into the above-mentioned tag team affair.

However, reports do confirm that there're a lot of 'twists & turns' waiting on the Road to WrestleMania 39, especially in this ongoing storyline which should lead to witnessing the dream bout between THE MAN and The Quintessential WWE Diva at SummerSlam 2023.

It was at the biggest event of the summer where Trish admittedly had her final singles match against Charlotte Flair in her hometown of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, four years ago. But she was always willing to lace up her boots for some dream matches.

Via an official press release in early February, the 2023 WWE SummerSlam premium Live Event was announced for Saturday, August 5 from the Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan. The official poster for the event is yet to be released.
