Bengaluru, August 10: A dream match happened on Smackdown live between John Cena and Shinsuke Nakamura to the delight of the WWE fans.
The match was contested to determine the number one contender for the WWE Championship at Summerslam. Nakamura won the match to earn the rights to face Jinder Mahal for the title.
During the finish, Nakamura botched a move which literally killed John Cena. As seen on the given gif clip, the former NXT Champion, threw his opponent on her neck in a bad way forcing a nasty landing. This could have damaged Cena's neck and career.
With his super power, John Cena was able to finish the match in the right way putting over the new prime babyface of the Smackdown brand. However, WWE does not take these kinds of botches lightly taking the concerned guilty into the dog house.
This time too, it was thought that Nakamura might have suffered some serious backstage heat for this. However, PWInisder.com reported that this time the officials are considering it's a 'fluke'. So, The Artist is not facing any sort of backstage heat, for now.
John Cena is the key player to make things up for his opponent. He said to the officials that following the match, Nakamura had apologized to him on-screen. Plus, it was not done intentionally putting Cena in serious condition with concussions.
So, 'The King of Strong Styles' is out of danger and will not face any consequences. It's quite good news considering that he is set to be the face of the blue brand, going forward. Facing heat at the beginning of this phase would have harmed his status to a certain extent.
With that being said, the Japanese sensation is the favorite one to win the WWE Championship match against Jinder Mahal at Summerslam. By virtue of this win, he will pick up his maiden WWE title in the main roster. The face will be happier to see him getting crowned with the prime title.
However, there are also some speculations over Baron Corbin cashing the Money in the Bank briefcase right after Nakamura's win. This would turn out to be a shocker pulled off on the PPV night by the creative team. As of now, Corbin is scheduled for a singles contest against John Cena at Summerslam.
