WWE: Update on Shane McMahon’s injury from Smackdown Live

Bengaluru, March 15: The last act of Shane McMahon for the Smackdown Live brand was to make an announcement. It was confirmed that the announcement will come up with huge Wrestlemania implications. It lived up to the hype since a match was confirmed at the biggest event of the year. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn were confirmed to compete in a match at the upcoming PPV.

The fact that it was Shane’s last decision around the brand, for a while is due to his upcoming hiatus. While appearing on this week’s Smackdown, he confirmed that he is taking an “indefinite leave of absence”, effective immediately. There was no update as to when he would come back to his show.

After what transpired around him, later the night, it is almost certain that the popular face will not be seen on WWE programming for quite sometimes. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn were having a rift with the commissioner for quite sometimes. So, once the confirmation was made about their Wrestlemania match, they went right after him.

Apart from the vicious beatdown, Shane McMahon was shoved into the barricade with a chair stuck around his throat. Also, he suffered a pop-up powerbomb onto a metal structure which might have damaged his ribs to a huge extent.

WWE.com provided an update on his status which stated that he had multiple issues in his body as a result of that attack. Check out the full statements, here,

“McMahon suffered several injuries during the attack, WWE.com can confirm. “He sustained a laryngeal contusion when the steel chair was wrapped around his head and thrown into the turnbuckle,” WWE medical staff said.

KO & Zayn continued the onslaught by dragging McMahon to the back and power bombing him onto a metal rack, resulting in further injuries. “He was then thrown onto the metal rack, which resulted in the trapezius and rhomboid strains,” medical staff continued.”

This was a clever way to put Shane McMahon out of commission from this year’s Wrestlemania. Now that this attack happened, it’s almost certain that he might not be competing at the grandest stage of them all.

There is no impactful option reserved, for him at this point since we have already seen Shane vs. Owens, in the past. Meanwhile, in his absence, Daniel Bryan will be in sole charge of Smackdown Live starting from next week.
