WrestleMania 40 Night 1 Recap & Highlights
- Rhea Ripley (c) defeated Becky Lynch to retain the Women's World Championship. Ripley got a special entrance as her entrance theme was performed live by Motionless In White. She got the pinfall win by hitting the Riptide on Becky.
- Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles got split during the Six-Pack Ladder Match and they were revealed to be Raw and SmackDown Tag Team Titles. As per the rules, one of the titles had to be unhooked by the first emerging team.
Austin Theory & Grayson Waller unhooked the SmackDown Tag Team Championship and they became the new champions of the blue brand. After the win, the New Catch Republic put Waller through a ladder.
R-Truth was then climbing the ladder, but JD McDonagh interfered and stopped Truth. New Day pushed JD off the top of the ladder through the tables. Truth threw Damian Priest outside the ring with an Attitude Adjustment before unhooking the Raw Tag Titles.
Thus, A-Town Down Under (Austin Theory & Grayson Waller) won the SmackDown Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania 40 while the team of Awesome Truth (R-Truth & The Miz) won the RAW Tag Team Championship.
- Rey Mysterio & Andrade defeated Santos Escobar & Dominik Mysterio. Two big masked men attacked Dirty Dom and they were Jason Kelce and Lane Johnson. After 619 to both Dom and Escobar, Rey pinned the latter with a splash off the top rope.
- Jey Uso defeated Jimmy Uso in a Brother vs. Brother Match. Jimmy delivered a superkick, followed by a Splash for a near-fall. Jey downed Jimmy with a Spear, followed by a Splash to claim the win and sweet redemption.
- Jade Cargill, Naomi & Bianca Belair defeated Damage CTRL (Dakota Kai and WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Asuka & Kairi Sane). Asuka accidentally spit the mist in Sane's face allowing Jade to hit Dakota with her finisher for the win.
- Sami Zayn defeated Gunther (c) to win the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 40. Gunther hit Sami with a vicious clothesline, followed by 2 powerbombs but a resilient Sami kicked out of those, shocking everyone.
Gunther further proceeded to powerbomb Sami and hit the Splash two times in a row. He went for a third one but Sami hit a Helluva Kick, followed by a Brainbuster for the pinfall win.
- The Rock & WWE Champion Roman Reigns defeated Cody Rhodes & World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins in the Biggest Tag Team Match of all time in the main event of WrestleMania 40 Night One.
