WWE WrestleMania 40: Plans revealed for The Rock after heel-turn

The predicted Roman Reigns vs. The Rock main event of WrestleMania 40 is not happening, as of this writing as WWE officially confirmed Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship as the headliner of Night Two.

At the WrestleMania 40 Kickoff press conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, last Thursday night a surprising twist occurred when The Rock turned into a villainous character after two decades, and aligned with Roman Reigns.

After listening to remarks about the very own Samoan Dynasty, he publicly disrespected Cody Rhodes by slapping him. This moment generated online support for Rhodes to "finish his story" and animosity towards The Rock.

Interestingly though, The Great One maintained his usual fan-friendly behavior on social media and press events, he's not bothered at all by the on-screen character he's playing on television for the WWE.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter provided an update regarding WWE's plans with the most electrifying man in sports entertainment who'd continue to do his shticks despite the negativities. Per storyline, he still believed that the WrestleMania 40 main event would be altered.

"The goal with The Rock acting like he was perplexed with the boos, pretending they weren't happening and doing his usual shtick was to build to his heel turn and shock people when he sided with Roman Reigns."

In a follow-up update to the situation, WrestleVotes is reporting that the former WWE Champion will eventually embrace his iconic "Hollywood Rock" persona that he first brought on TV almost two decades ago.

"Sources suggest that The Rock is expected to fully embrace his heel turn, drawing inspiration from his past 'Hollywood' Rock persona. Additionally, I'm told to anticipate the release of Rock branded 'Cody Crybabies' merchandise. The story is just beginning..."

At this point, a mega segment around WrestleMania 40 is booked for this week's Friday Night SmackDown where Roman Reigns and The Rock will appear alongside the 2024 WWE Royal Rumble match winner to confront Triple H.

The Rock warned Triple H to fix the situation soon after the WrestleMania 40 press conference was over and he still hopes to be the challenger for the WWE Championship. We'll have to wait until SmackDown to find out how this ongoing angle will move forward.
