He draws inspiration from Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt and Serbian Para athlete Drazenko Mitrovic. His personal philosophy is centred on perseverance: "The most important thing is will. Don't give up, always use the words, 'I can, I want, I wish'. There is no going back."
He has been honoured multiple times throughout his career. He was Serbia's flag bearer at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris and at the 2018 European Championships in Berlin. He was named Best Male Para Athlete in Belgrade in 2015 and 2016 and Male Athlete of the Year by the Paralympic Committee of Serbia in 2012, 2015, and 2017.
After winning gold at the 2017 World Championships in London, he announced his retirement but returned to claim more medals for Serbia. He took a two-year break after competing at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics due to health reasons but returned to competition in 2023.
The death of his teammate Milos Mitic in September 2018 deeply affected him. "He was like a brother to me," he said. "During every major competition, I'm going to throw having him in my mind and heart."
Raised by his grandmother, he credits her with teaching him to fight and persevere. "She is my angel in heaven who protects me and gives me strength," he said. He dedicates all his achievements to her memory.
Looking ahead, he plans to continue competing and bringing more accolades to Serbia. His journey from a football player to a celebrated Para athlete serves as an inspiration for many aspiring athletes.
