Abbey Weitzeil Biography

Initially, Abbey did not enjoy swimming. However, after moving to Santa Clarita and joining another swim team, she discovered her talent for the sport. Her sisters, who were also swimmers, inspired her to continue.

Training and Coaching

Abbey trains at the University of California Berkeley under coach Teri McKeever. She emphasises the importance of turns and mastering the kick motion. "Katie [McLaughlin] and I are the only two pro swimmers on the women's team," she said. They follow the same regimen as the college team.

International Debut

Abbey made her international debut in 2014 at the Pan Pacific Championships in Gold Coast, QLD, Australia, representing the United States. This marked the beginning of her international career.

One of Abbey's most memorable achievements was swimming under the 21-second mark in the 50-yard freestyle at the 2019 Minnesota Invitational. This feat was a significant milestone in her career.
