Brouwer resides in The Hague with his wife Henneke and their son Boas Ole. He is multilingual, speaking both Dutch and English fluently. Apart from his athletic career, Brouwer is also a student of Economics at Rotterdam Topsport Academie in the Netherlands.

In his leisure time, Brouwer enjoys surfing, snowboarding, playing the piano, and video games. He has a deep admiration for Swiss tennis player Roger Federer and carries a stuffed toy sheep to tournaments as a superstition. This toy was a gift from his parents during his childhood.
