She missed both outdoor and indoor seasons with the University of South Carolina. Additionally, she was affected by another ankle injury between December 2013 and mid-2014.
Despite these setbacks, Abrams has received numerous accolades. In 2019, she was named Southeastern Conference (SEC) Outdoor Scholar-Athlete of the Year while competing with the University of South Carolina. In 2016, she was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team and selected for the All-Academic Team by the United States Track and Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) in 2016 and 2017.
