However, her sister's enthusiasm encouraged her to sail more frequently. This gradual increase in sailing led to a deeper commitment to the sport.

Coaching and Philosophy

Under the guidance of national coach Alain Sign from Great Britain, Bekkering has honed her skills. She lives by the motto: "Have fun on the water. And if you want to win, go fast in the right direction." This philosophy has undoubtedly contributed to her success.

Milestones and Achievements

Bekkering, along with Annette Duetz, became the first crew to win two world championship titles in the 49erFX class. They clinched gold at the 2018 World Championships in Aarhus, Denmark, and at the 2019 Class World Championships in Auckland, New Zealand. These victories are a testament to their dedication and teamwork.

Olympic Journey

After missing out on a spot at the 2012 Olympic Games in London in the Elliott 6m class, Bekkering shifted her focus to the 49erFX class. She partnered with Annette Duetz in 2014. Together, they competed in the 49erFX class at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
