Anton Plyesnoy Biography

He started weightlifting as a child and quickly realised it was the sport for him. Frequent competitions and constant progress kept him motivated. His training regime is rigorous, with six days of training each week. This includes three days of double workouts and three days of single workouts.

Coaching and Training

He trains under the guidance of Giorgi Asanidze, the national coach from Georgia, and Sergei Nikolaevich Romanov, his personal coach. His training sessions are intense and designed to help him compete at the highest level.

Influences and Inspirations

His family, especially his father, has been the most influential in his career. He looks up to Georgian weightlifter Lasha Talakhadze as his idol. His sporting philosophy is simple: "Train together, train right."

Ambitions and Achievements

He aimed to compete at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. Born in Ukraine, he represented the nation at the 2016 World Junior Championships in Tbilisi, Georgia. In 2018, he moved to Georgia for better coaching and to train alongside his idol.

Move to Georgia

The move to Georgia was a strategic decision. He realised that preparing for the Olympic Games with the Ukrainian national team would be challenging without the right coaches. After considering offers from different countries, he chose Georgia for its favourable conditions.

Improving Clean and Jerk

He has focused on improving the jerk phase of his clean and jerk to compete better against rivals like Qatari weightlifter Fares Ibrahim Elbakh and Chinese weightlifter Tian Tao. He has faced challenges with the jerk but has worked on strengthening his abdominal muscles and honing his motor skills.

His dedication to improving his clean and jerk is evident as he aims to win overall by excelling in both snatch and clean and jerk events.

Residing in Georgia with his wife Julia, he speaks both Georgian and Ukrainian fluently. His journey from Ukraine to Georgia highlights his commitment to achieving excellence in weightlifting.
