BWF World Championships 2023 draw was held on Thursday (August 10) at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The tournament will be held from August 21 to August 27 in Copehagen, Denmark.
The 28th edition of the tournament will see over 350 shuttlers from across the globe compete in five different categories: Men's singles, Women's singles, Men's doubles, Women's doubles and the mixed doubles.

A total of 64 players each will compete in Men's Singles and 48 in Women's Singles categories, while there are 46 teams each in the three double categories with the 16 highest ranked players on the latest World Ranking receiving a seeding in all five categories.

Women's Singles: An Se Young (Korea) receives bye to second round
Men's Doubles: Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Ardianto (Indonesia) receive bye to second round
Women's Doubles: Chen Qing Chen/Jia Yi Fan (China) receive bye to second round
Mixed Doubles: Zheng Si Wei/Huang Ya Qiong (China) receive bye to second round
While these were the top seeds matches, there are a total of 16 Indian badminton players in the BWF World Championships 2023 draw. Four Indians will be in singles action, while six pairs will be in doubles action.
Only HS Prannoy and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty pair are seeded in the top 10, while PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen as well as Treesa Jolly-Gayatri Gopichand pair are also seeded in the draw.

Two-time Olympic medallist Sindhu is the only Indian to have won the World Championships so far, having won the title in 2019. Sindhu has also won silver twice and bronze twice in the event.
Former world number 1 Kidambi Srikanth also came close in 2021, but settled for silver. Similarly, Saina Nehwal to came very close to gold, but settled for silver in 2015. She also won the bronze once.
Lakshya Sen, B Sai Praneeth, Satwik-Chirag pair and Ashwini Ponnappa-Jwala Gutta pair have also won bronze medals at the global event, taking India's tally to 13 medals in the BWF World Championships. Now, let's what opponents the Indians have received in the draw.

The 2022 Commonwealth Games bronze medallists Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand, seeded 16th, will be in the women's doubles draw alongside the unseeded pair of Ashwini Bhat K and Shikha Gautam.

Last year's history makers Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, who became the first-ever Indian men's pair to win a medal at the World Championships, will spearhead the doubles charge this time as well. They will be in the men's doubles draw as the second seeds, while unseeded MR Arjun & Dhruv Kapila will be the other Indian men's doubles team.
