New Delhi, March 31: PV Sindhu defeated her compatriot Saina Nehwal in straight games in the quater-finals of India Super Series badminton tournament and stormed into the semi-finals here at the Siri Fort Sports Complex, on Friday (March 31).
India's Rio Olympic silver medallist, Sindhu, defeated London Olympics bronze medallist, Saina, by 21-16 and 22-20 in the blockbuster game that lasted for nearly 47 minutes.

After winning the first set comfortably, Sindhu was trailing behind Saina in the second game but made a remarkable comeback in the final few minutes to snatch victory from Saina's grip.
World No.5, Sindhu held on to her nerves as she defeated Saina, world No. 8, in the tight game. Saina might have lost the game but she showed signs to improvement after coming back from an injury.
The crowd at Siri Fort cheered both the star shuttlers as the match lived up to the pre-match hype.
Before this, Saina and Sindhu met just once in an international competition -- at the 2014 Syed Modi International. Saina had won that match in straight games. They had played against each other in PBL early this year where Sindhu had an upper hand this year.
Sindhu will now eye winning the semi-finals to compete for her maiden Indian Open trophy.
