Birmingham, March 10: In a setback to Indian fans, India's star shuttler PV Sindhu was knocked out of the quarter-finals of the All England Open after she lost to top seed and World No. 1 Tai Tzu Ying of Taipei on Friday (March 10).
Ying defeated the Rio Olympics silver medallist and sixth seed 21-14, 21-10 in straight sets to advance into the semi-finals.

The Taipei shuttler beaten Sindhu in their last meeting with the Taipei at the Hong Kong Open final. However, Sindhu defeated her on her way to winning the Rio Olympic silver medal.
Eighth seed Saina fought hard but could not avoid a 20-22, 20-22 defeat to South Korean third seed Sung Ji Hyun in 54 minutes.
It was a heartbreaking loss for Saina who came close but could not pull it off at critical junctures at the Barclaycard Arena.
The win was Sung's only second triumph in eight games against 2012 London Olympic bronze medal winner Saina.
Earlier on Thursday, Sindhu tamed Indonesian Dinar Dyah Ayustine in a 21-12, 21-4 second-round victory to qualify for the quarter-finals.
The only Indian men's singles player left in the second round, HS Prannoy failed to mount a challenge against Chinese seventh seed Tian Houwei, losing 13-21, 5-21 in 33 minutes.
