Rio de Janeiro, Aug 18: India got its first medal at the Rio Olympics 2016 from wrestler Sakshi Malik, on Wednesday (August 17). India's 2 medal propects in shuttler PV Sindhu and woman wrestler Babita Kumari will be in action on Thursday (August 18).

However, the day ended with the good news of Sakshi's bronze medal. (Who is Sakshi?)

Wednesday also witnessed 800 metres runner Tintu Luka finishing sixth in the heats despite clocking her season's best timing. (Details of Sindhu's semis match)
