Throssell made her international debut in 2012, representing Australia. She trains with the UWA West Coast club in Perth, WA, under the guidance of coach Mick Palfrey. Over the years, she has earned numerous accolades, including being named Western Australia Swimmer of the Year multiple times.

Her awards include Western Australia Swimmer of the Year in 2015, 2016, 2018, 2020, and 2021. In 2019, she was honoured as the Western Australian Institute of Sport Athlete of the Year.
