Caeleb Dressel Biography

Since 2021, Dressel has been training with the University of Florida college team in Gainesville, FL. His coaches include Anthony Nesty and Steve Jungbluth. This rigorous training regime has played a crucial role in his development as an elite swimmer.

Awards and Achievements

Dressel's accolades are numerous. He was named Best Male Swimmer of the Year by FINA in 2017, 2019, and 2021. At the 2019 Golden Goggle Awards, he received the Male Athlete of the Year and Male Race of the Year awards. Additionally, he was honoured as Athlete of the Year at the 2019 USAS Convention.

During his collegiate career at the University of Florida, Dressel earned titles such as CSCAA Swimmer of the Year in 2018 and SEC Male Swimmer of the Year three times. His performance at the 2017 World Championships in Budapest earned him seven gold medals and the title of Male Swimmer of the Meet.

One of Dressel's most notable achievements came at the 2019 World Championships in Gwangju, Republic of Korea. He set a record for most medals won at a single edition of the long course world championships by claiming eight medals.

In June 2018, Dressel suffered minor injuries from a motorcycle accident but recovered in time to compete at the US national championships. He also underwent deviated septum surgery in early 2014.

Dressel's sporting philosophy is simple: "I just want to be a better man every day, and from there, the swimming will come." He looks up to US swimmer Michael Phelps as his idol.

Looking ahead, Dressel aims to compete at future world championships. His dedication to swimming remains strong despite feeling fatigued after winning five gold medals at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
