Callum Skinner Biography

Skinner's passion for track cycling ignited after watching Chris Hoy's performance. He started cycling at a young age and quickly made a name for himself. By 2009, he received the Edinburgh Council Chris Hoy Award for the most promising cyclist from the east of Scotland.

International Debut

Skinner made his international debut in 2010, competing for Scotland at the Commonwealth Games held in Delhi, India. This marked the beginning of his journey on the global stage.

Challenges and Setbacks

In 2011, Skinner faced a significant health scare when he was misdiagnosed with lymphoma. This forced him to take a break from cycling. Although later tests revealed it was a misdiagnosis, the hiatus affected his chances of being considered for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

In 2012, while riding in a charity race, Skinner suffered a broken collarbone. Despite these setbacks, he remained determined to pursue his cycling career.
