Skinner's interest in shooting was sparked by her older brothers, who shot clay targets when she was young. At the age of 12, she expressed her desire to learn to shoot to her father. He then took her to the local club with one of her grandfather’s old guns. This marked the beginning of her journey in the sport.

Club and Coaching

Skinner is associated with the Mansfield Clay Target Club in Australia. She is coached by Valeriy Timokhin at the national level. Her unique handedness includes being right-eyed but left-handed, which adds an interesting dynamic to her shooting style.

Achievements and Awards

One of Skinner's memorable sporting achievements was competing against Australian teammate Laetisha Scanlan in the gold medal match at the 2013 World Cup event in Al-Ain, United Arab Emirates. Skinner won silver in this event. Additionally, she was the flag bearer for Australia at the opening ceremony of the 2015 World University Games in Gwangju, Republic of Korea.

Skinner was named Female Shooter of the Year by Shooting Australia in both 2013 and 2014. In April 2013, she and Scanlan made history by winning gold and silver in trap at the World Cup event in Al-Ain.
